SAN QUINTIN, Pangasinan (Eagle News) – With the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections just around the corner, police in San Quintin have thought of a way to further ensure that voters cast their ballots wisely: They displayed tarpaulins containing the names of candidates who underwent a drug test so far and those who did not.

Based on police records, of the 701 candidates for posts in the barangay and SK polls in San Quintin, only 515 underwent a drug test.

Among those who failed to undergo the test were two candidates for the post of  barangay chair, 50 candidates for barangay kagawad, 14 candidates for SK chair and 120 for SK councilor.

According to Police Senior Inspector Samuel Gamaliel Arcano, the majority of those who did not undergo the drug test said that they had no budget yet for the same.

Arcano said that the remaining candidates can still undergo the test and submit the results before election day on May 14.
