Rains in parts of country as “Isang” moves toward China; Signal No. 2 hoisted over Batanes, No. 1 over Babuyan Group of Islands

(Eagle News) — Expect moderate to heavy  rains in some parts of the country, as Tropical Storm Isang continues to move toward China.

In its 11 a.m. briefing, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the monsoon rains are expected on Monday night  in the western section of Luzon, including Metro Manila, and the western section of Visayas including Panay Island.

Based on Isang’s passage, Pagasa said moderate to occasionally heavy rains may result in flooding in northern Luzon.

It said Isang is expected to intensify as it nears Batanes, which is now under Signal No. 2.

This means that winds are expected to move from 60 to 120 kilometers per hour in 24 hours.

The Babuyan Group of Islands is inder Signal No. 1, with winds expected to move between 30 to 60 kph in 36 hours.

Isang is expected to move faster this afternoon, with winds reaching 17 kph.

On Tuesday morning, it is expected to reach the Severe Tropical Storm intensity.

On Tuesday or Wednesday, Isang is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility and move toward China.
