QCPD denies man mauled to death while in detention

(Eagle News) — The Quezon City Police District on Thursday, June 21, denied a family’s allegations one of their detainees had died because he was mauled while under their custody.

In a statement, the QCPD said the allegations of the family of Genesis Argoncillo alias Tisoy, who was arrested for alarm and scandal on June 15, were “mere conjectures until an autopsy is performed.”

According to the QCPD, Dr. Jethiel Fabon had certified there were no signs of external injuries on Argoncillo’s body.

It said Argoncillo complained of shortness of breath four days after he was detained at the Novaliches Police Station.

He was rushed to the Novaliches District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:15 a.m., it said.

“Besides, our policemen are under strict orders to follow the PNP protocols calling for rights-based treatment of suspects and detainees,” it added.

It said Argoncillo’s death may have been caused by congestion in the facility.
