(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday led the destruction of over 10 illegally imported cars in Cagayan province.

The 14 luxury vehicles, which were valued at more than P27 million, were rolled over by heavy equipment as President Duterte watched.

In his speech, Duterte said the destruction of the vehicles, which included BMWs, Mercedes Benzes, among others, signifies a “strong resolve to restore good governance, preserve our nation’s dignity, and safeguard our people’s welfare.”

“I will never tolerate smuggling and all forms of irregularities in all ports, especially in our free ports,” Duterte said.

This is not the first time the President led the destruction of smuggled luxury cars.

In February, he led the destruction of vehicles worth P61.6 million in the Port of Manila, vowing to hold a crackdown against unscrupulous vehicle importers.
