PNP: Some politicians using gun-for-hire groups as private armies

(Eagle News)—-Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde on Monday, Nov. 12, said some politicians were seeking the services of gun-for-hire groups to serve as their private armies.

Albayalde made the pronouncement after he announced the neutralization of two such groups.

Albayalde said authorities had arrested five alleged members of the Peralta Group: Dennis Matias, Mary Ann Mallari, Raymond Dequina, John Laña and Jackie Lou Isidro.

Also arrested was Christopher Alain Alvero in his compound in Barangay San Ignacio in San Pablo City over the weekend in a separate operation.

Killed were Anthony Rosas and Enrico Eric Suasi.

During the separate operations, recovered were two handguns, two assault rifles, one carbine conversion kit,  22 different ATM and credit cards, four mobile phones, one shotgun, one grenade and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and three sport utility vehicles, two handguns,  two assault rifles, one carbine conversion kit and  22 different ATM and credit cards, four mobile phones, one shotgun, one grenade, two improvised explosive devices and three sport utility vehicles.

“Hangga’t maaari, hindi natin paabutin ng eleksyon ‘yan. That’s why we want to have a honest and orderly elections kaya tayo may operations na ganito,” Albayalde said.
