PNP: Gun-for-hire group behind killing of La Union town mayor

(Eagle News)–A gun-for-hire group is behind the killing of Sudipen, La Union Mayor Alexander Buquing.

This is according to Philippine National Police Spokesperson Benigno Durana, who spoke in a press conference on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

“Hindi pa natin nakita ‘yung definitive assessment but definitely these were well perpetrated by gun-for-hire elements kaya ang kautusan ng Chief PNP, we should be proactive in running against these gun-running syndicates,” he said.

So far, he said the police were still looking at possible angles in the killing of the mayor in Bangar on Monday, Oct.1.

Buquing’s security detail PO2 Rolando Juanbe and his driver Boni Depdepen were also killed in the incident.

Buquing’s wife, Wendy, also the town’s vice mayor, was also injured.
