Pimentel: No change in Senate leadership

(Eagle News) — Senate President Koko Pimentel denied there would be a change in Senate leadership on Monday, May 21.

“It is not true..,” Pimentel said in a statement.

He issued the statement after a report said 14 senators had signed a resolution seeking for the change.

According to the report, those who signed the resolution were Senators Nancy Binay,  Juan Edgardo Angara, JV Ejercito, Sherwin Gatchalian, Francis Escudero, Richard Gordon, Gregorio Honasan II, Ping Lacson, Loren Legarda, Manny Pacquiao, Ralph Recto, Joel Villanueva, Cynthia Villar, and Juan Miguel Zubiri.

“By a majority vote of all the senators, Senator Vicente C. Sotto III is hereby elected as the new Senate President to discharge the duties and powers granted to him by the Rules of the Senate,” the document supposedly said.
