Pangilinan seeks Senate probe into alleged roles of rogue cops in crimes in country

(Eagle News)–Senator Francis Pangilinan has filed a resolution seeking a probe into the supposed role of rogue policemen in crimes.

“It’s a cause for concern. ‘Yan ang hirap pagka, sabi ko nga, tumaas na ang sweldo, tumaas din ang involvement ng pang-aabuso ng mga pulis, na hindi tama,” he said.

Pangilinan made the comment days after three Valenzuela policemen and their civilian cohort were arrested for allegedly extorting money from junkshop owners.

Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr. identified those arrested as Senior Police Officer 4 Serafin Adante, PO1 Ryan Paul Antimaro and PO1 Rey Harvey Florano, all assigned to the Valenzuela Police Community Precinct 8, and civilian Amado Baldon Jr

“So we hope that the Senate will be able to look into this and provide necessary recommendations para matugunan ito at para ma-address ito,” Pangilinan said.
