Palace to critics of driver-only vehicle ban on Edsa during rush hours: “Let’s give it a chance”

(Eagle News) — “Let’s give it a chance.”

This was the message of the Palace to critics of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s driver-only vehicle ban on Edsa during rush hours.

“Lahat naman po ine-explore natin para magkaroon ng solusyon dito sa problema ng traffic,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press conference on Thursday, Aug. 16.

According to Roque, the ban was “implemented….sa maraming parte ng daigdig..”

“Hindi naman sila nagrereklamo ng discrimination. Talagang police power lang po iyan para mabawasan ang kotse sa kalye at para makapagtipid din po sa gasolina at sa diesel,” he said.

The MMDA held a dry-run of the ban on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

The MMDA said rush hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
