(Eagle News) — The Palace on Wednesday, Nov. 28, commended former Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza after he took responsibility for the “transgressions committed by his two subordinates.”

“We commend the former Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process for taking full responsibility and issuing an apology under the principle of command responsibility…,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement, calling what Dureza did “leadership by example.”

Dureza has “set a concrete example and put a true meaning to the value of delicadeza and morality in governance,” Panelo said.

As for Ronald Flores and Yeshter Donn Baccay of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Panelo said their termination “serves as another warning to all government officials that no person is exempted from the administration’s high and exacting standards of honesty in public service.”

President Rodrigo Duterte announced Dureza’s resignation after he announced the termination of Flores, an undersecretary, and Baccay, an assistant secretary.

Duterte said he was “sad” when he accepted Dureza’s resignation.

Prior to the termination of Flores and Baccay, Duterte said he was going to dismiss an undersecretary for corruption.

This came also after he sacked Undersecretary Falconi Millar of the Housing Urban Development and Coordinating Council, also for corruption.

Millar denied the allegations, saying they were only part of a demolition job against him.
