Palace: Faeldon’s appointment papers as BuCor head to come out “soon”

(Eagle News) — The papers appointing Nicanor Faeldon as the new chief of the Bureau of Corrections will come out “soon,” the Palace said on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the statement after Faeldon, now an administrator at the Office of the Civil Defense, took offense at Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra’s statement he had yet to report to the BuCor despite an announcement about his transfer from the OCD.

Guevarra later clarified Faeldon has not reported to the BuCor pending his endorsement to the new position by the Civil Service Commission.

Faeldon, for his part, said he has not yet received any appointment papers for the transfer.

“It takes time processing the appointment papers. That should come out soon,” Panelo said.

Earlier, former Philippine National Police Chief Bato dela Rosa resigned as head of BuCor to run for a Senate seat in the 2019 elections.

Before assuming his post at the OCD, Faeldon headed the Bureau of Customs but he resigned after he came under fire for the entry of P6.4-billion worth of shabu in the country in May 2017.
