(Eagle News) — The country’s weather bureau PAGASA has lifted all rainfall warning levels in the country after “light to moderate rain was observed over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga, and Bulacan for the past one hour.”

“With this development, HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING over these areas has been TERMINATED,” PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. advisory.

Only light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected over Batangas (Lian, Tuy, Balayan, Nasugbu, Calaca, Laurel), Cavite (Magallanes, Alfonso, Mendez, Gen. Emilio, Indang, Tagaytay), and Zambales (Cabangan, Botolan, Olongapo, Subic).

This rain situation may “persist within 1-2 hours and may affect nearby areas,” PAGASA said.

“Expect light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over Metro Manila and Bataan within the next 1-2 hours,” it added in its latest advisory.

Tropical storm Karding left the country as of 10 a.m. Saturday, August 11, but continued to enhance the southwest monsoon causing heavy rains that inundated Metro Manila, Rizal and affecting much of Central Luzon.

The rains became intense during the day, but decreased in intensity later in the night. Floods also subsided as the rains decreased.

PAGASA said that its rainfall warning number 7 issued at 5 a.m. Sunday, August 12, will be its final regarding the southwest monsoon enhanced by Karding as the storm continued to move farther away from the country.
