Pacquiao defeats Broner by unanimous decision; retains WBA title

(Eagle News)–Manny Pacquiao retained the WBA welterweight title on Sunday, after beating Adrien Broner in the much-anticipated fight in Las Vegas.

The forty-year-old Pacquiao, who was aggressive from the start, was declared the winner by unanimous decision: 116-112, 116-112 and 117-111.

In an interview, Pacquiao said his journey as a boxer continued, and said he would fight Floyd Mayweather should he agree to do so.

Mayweather, however, who watched the match, did not comment.

Interviewed after the match, Broner, 29, refused to believe he lost, saying he clearly dominated the fight.

“I beat that boy,” he said.

With the win, Pacquiao improved his record to 61 wins.

He has seven defeats and two draws.

Broner’s record is at 33-4-1.
