PHILADELPHIA (Eagle News)— The Vancouver Canucks started their road trip with a 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night.

Vancouver was led by their rookie Brock Boeser, who had a stellar performance leading the game with two goals.

The Flyers opened the first period with goal by Ivan Provorov, but the Canucks tied up the game two minutes after on an equalizing goal from Daniel Sedin.

The Canucks dominated in the second period, led by the 20-year old rookie Boeser, scoring the first of two goals after a bad line change from the Flyers halfway through the period. Boeser added his second goal on a power-play from Daniel and Henrik Sedin, giving the Canucks a 3-1 lead.

On another Canucks power-play, Sven Baertschi capitalized on a rebound off Flyers’ goaltender Michal Neuvirth for his 8th goal of the year. Neuvirth was replaced by backup Brian Elliott after allowing four goals, three of them being back to back goals in the second period.

Loui Eriksson added an empty net goal for the Canucks as goaltender Jacob Markstrom finished the rest of the game solid with 36 saves.

Vancouver continues their Metropolitan Division road trip in Pittsburgh, as they take on the Penguins at the PPG Paints Arena. The Flyers will take on the New York Islanders at home, the first of two back to back games against each other.  (Eagle News)
