Philippine National Police Chief Police Director General Oscar Albayalde on Friday, April 20, said he would retain the counter-intelligence task force that runs after rogue policemen.

In his first press briefing as the PNP chief, Albayalde said the CITF, which was set up by his predecessor, Ronald dela Rosa, would even be “complimented by all the counter-intelligence divisions and units of the PNP.”

“Alam naman nila kung ano ang focus at ano ang gusto ng administrasyon na ito. These are very simple things, yung pagbabago namin, internal cleansing, discipline and the war on drugs and war on anti-criminality. So yun ang basic na siguro naman napakadaling maintindihan,” Albayalde said.

He said he hoped that with the discipline that would be furthered in policemen, the PNP would become a more pro-active organization.

“Hindi tayo parang kabayo na kapag hindi pinalo hindi tatakbo, hindi tayo parang jukebox na kapag hindi hinulugan ng piso hindi tutugtog,” Albayalde said.

Albayalde said he would also retain Dela Rosa’s Project Double Barrel and Oplan Tokhang, which he said had positive effects on the peace and order situation of the country.
