NDRRMC: At least two killed in incidents caused by enhanced southwest monsoon

(Eagle News) — At least two people have been killed in incidents caused by the continuous rains brought about by an enhanced southwest monsoon.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on Monday, Aug. 13, said Dioscoro Camacho of Marikina City and Gloria Borlongan Mendoza of Quezon City died of drowning.

The NDRRMC said Edgar Indelible Bugaay of Quezon City, who was last seen falling off a creek, was also reported as missing.

All in all, the NDRRMC said 1,057,767 persons in 713 barangays in Regions 1 and 2, Metro Manila, Calabarzon and  the Cordillera Administrative Region were affected by rains and floods in recent days, with at least 59,100 people fleeing their homes.

Almost P44.5 million—or P44,491,298—was given in assistance to the affected areas, the NDRRMC said.
