NCRPO: Monday’s transport strike had no impact

(Eagle News) — Police authorities on Monday said the transport strike held by members of the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide  did not have an impact on the traffic situation in Metro Manila and nearby areas, belying the group’s pronouncement that 90 percent of the capital’s jeepney routes had been affected.

“Transport strike was generally peaceful and has not affected the normal situation within the (National Capital Region),” the National Capital Region Police Office said.

Based on a 5 p.m. update, around 290 passengers were stranded all over Metro Manila as a result of the strike.

The NCRPO report said 40 people were stranded in the Northern Police District, 0 in the Eastern Police District, 20 in the Manila Police District, 100 in the Southern Police District, and 130 in the Quezon City Police District.

Strikes were also held in other parts of the country, PISTON said.
