(Eagle News) — More than P1 billion worth of shabu was seized by authorities over the weekend, the National Bureau of Investigation said on Monday.

The 505 kilograms of shabu worth P1.5 billion were seized in a raid held by the Bureau of Customs, the NBI, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Valenzuela police in a brokerage warehouse in Valenzuela City on Saturday.

According to the NBI, the operation was based on information received by the BOC from China’s Office of National Narcotics Control Commission.

The “high-grade” shabu was found inside cylinder tanks placed inside crates, which drug-detection dogs had sniffed during the operation.

According to the BOC, the crates made it past authorities as they did not pass through x-ray machines.

Authorities are now investigating the alleged syndicate behind the illegal activities. Erwin Temperante, Eagle News
