Medialdea: Extending martial law in Mindanao an “option” following deadly blast in Sultan Kudarat

(Eagle News) — Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Wednesday, Aug. 28, said extending martial law in Mindanao was an option following the blast in Sultan Kudarat that killed two and injured over 30 others.

“It’s an option, but nandiyan ‘yun,” Medialdea said at the House of Representatives  when asked if making the extension was a possibility.

Martial law in Mindanao will lapse on December 31.

“We’re trying to make it as easy as possible na walang ano. But kung ganito pa rin ang nangyari, anong gagawin natin?” Medialdea asked.

The bomb that exploded had been placed in a motorcycle in Insulan.

Authorities said they suspected the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were behind the attack.
