(Eagle News) — Davao Mayor Sara Duterte has cancelled local peace talks with the New People’s Army.

This was after President Rodrigo Duterte signed a proclamation officially labeling the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA as a terrorist group.

Prior to this, Duterte signed Proclamation 360, formally terminating peace talks with the rebels.

Duterte had said he was fed up with the group’s “depredatory acts,” including what he said was the killing of a four-month-old baby.

He also said the rebels had the penchant to kill soldiers even when a ceasefire was in place.
