Makati RTC Branch 148 denies appeals of prosecutors, Trillanes of ruling on coup d’état case

(Eagle News)–The Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 has denied the partial motions for reconsideration filed by both state prosecutors and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

In denying the motions in a one-page order on Nov. 22, Judge Andres Soriano noted that they were a “mere rehash of the issues and arguments which have already been exhaustively threshed out, passed upon and discussed in the assailed order.”

Prosecutors appealed for Soriano to reconsider his “factual findings on whether or not Trillanes filed his application for amnesty and admitted guilt at the time he applied  for and was granted amnesty.”

Trillanes, on the other hand, sought to appeal Soriano’s ruling upholding the legality of Proclamation No. 572 that declared void ab initio the amnesty granted to him for the Oakwood and Manila Peninsula incidents in 2003 and 2007, respectively.

“The court has thoroughly reviewed all the evidence and pleadings presented submitted by the parties and it finds no reason to reverse or modify its findings, both factual and legal,” Soriano said.

In a statement, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said this was ” certainly not the end of the saga.”

“I’ll discuss further strategy with (Solicitor General Jose) Calida..More to unfold!!!
