Main gunman in Batocabe slay surrenders

(Eagle News)-The main gunman in the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe has surrendered to the authorities.

Henry Yuson, a former New People’s Army member, surrendered to the military in Albay on Thursday afternoon.

Yuson was allegedly the main man who pulled the trigger and killed Batocabe in December last year.

The other gunman, Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde said, was Rolando Aromado.

With the surrender of Yuson, who has a standing warrant of arrest for rape, authorities have in custody three of the seven suspects in Batocabe’s killing, with  the surrender of Christopher Naval and Emmanuel Rosello earlier.

Yuson’s surrender came on the day Albayalde announced double murder charges and six counts of frustrated murder had been filed against him; Roselio; Naval; Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo; and four others in connection with the killing of Batocabe and his security escort, SP01 Orlando Diaz, and the injuries caused to six other people during the attack.

Albayalde had said the killing was politically motivated, noting that the assassination plot against Batocabe, based on their investigation, had been hatched after the congressman announced plans to run for Daraga mayor.

Baldo had plans of seeking reelection in the 2019 polls.
