(CCTV) — A traditional Chinese lantern show has been gloriously brightening up the night sky at a park in the German city of Hamburg.

The show, which is running from July 6 to 16, is co-hosted by China’s State Council Information Office, the government of southwest China’s Sichuan Province, the Chinese Embassy in Germany and the government of Hamburg City.

Showcasing distinctive elements of traditional Chinese culture, the show features 23 sets of colored lanterns shaped into flowers, pandas, insects, blue and white porcelain, and animals from the Chinese zodiac.

The lanterns have been specially presented to coincide with the G20 Summit, which is taking place in Hamburg on Friday and Saturday.

All the lanterns were made in south Sichuan’s Zigong City, regarded as the birthplace of the best lanterns in China. Over the past 30 years, Zigong’s lanterns have become an important carrier for Chinese cultural exchange and have been exhibited in over 50 countries and regions. They have been loved by the local people for their magnificent scale, ingenious design and delicate craftsmanship.
