Robert Bolick poured 11 of his 24 points during a massive 4th quarter run as the defending champions San Beda Red Lions dealt the LPU Pirates their first loss of the season with a 94-87 Game 1 win at the Araneta Coliseum.

With San Beda leading by just a point, 83-82, Bolick scored a big 3-pointer over a tough Lyceum defense.

He then converted 3 free throws after he was fouled from beyond the arc, then scored on a layup to give the Red Lions a 91-82 lead with just less than two minutes left in the ballgame.

The Pirates attempted a comeback, forcing a turnover and then making a quick 5-0 run.

But Bolick proved to be the hero once again for San Beda after splitting his free throws to give the Red Lions an insurmountable lead with just seconds remaining in the game.

The loss was the first for the Lyceum Pirates in NCAA Season 93.

The team of Coach Topex Robinson went 18-0 during the elimination round, including two wins over the San Beda Red Lions.

Bolick’s 24 points were complemented by Donald Tankoua who added 27 for San Beda.

Fellow Red Lions Davon Potts added 15 while Jayvee Mocon scored 11 points.

Newly crowned NCAA Season 93 MVP CJ Perez scored 25 points for the LPU Pirates. Mike Nzeusseu scored 14 points. Jesper Ayaay also added 11 markers for the Pirates.

Game 2 will be played next week, November 16 Thursday at 3:30 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
