LTO revokes Maria Isabel Lopez’s driver’s license; actress also fined P8K

(Eagle News) — The Land Transportation Office has revoked the license of actress Maria Isabel Lopez because of her unauthorized use of Edsa lanes only meant for Association of Southeast Asian Nations delegates early this month.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority assistant general manager for planning Jojo Garcia added Lopez was barred from  reapplying for a license for the next two years.

He said this was apart from the P8,000 fine she has to pay for her traffic violations–P3000 for reckless driving and disregarding traffic signs, and P5,000 for violating the anti-distracted driving law.

In a Facebook post, Lopez bragged she removed cones separating the ASEAN lanes from the ordinary ones on Edsa to get through the horrible traffic at that time.

Asked why she did it, Lopez said she didn’t want to feel stuck in traffic like a “second-class citizen” in her own country.

Weeks before, the MMDA, had however, already issued advisories telling motorists to avoid Edsa in anticipation of the horrible traffic during the ASEAN events.
