(Eagle News) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has allowed Uber drivers affected by the one-month suspension on the transport network company to operate under other TNCs in the meantime.
In a resolution issued on Thursday, the LTFRB said Uber’s Transport Network Vehicle Services could be “accommodated” by either Grab and U-Hop, subject to conditions–that the drivers produce proof of accreditation issued by Uber; and that they produce proof of insurance as coverage as a TNVS.
The LTFRB said in its resolution signed by Chair Martin Delgra, Board Members Aileen Lizada and Ronaldo Corpus; and attested to by Executive Director Augustine Vestil Jr., that the affected TNVS shall be “covered by the terms and conditions of Grab and U-Hop, as regards their existing policies given to the TNVS of said TNCs including its incentives and other similar benefits.”
The LTFRB also required Grab and U-Hop to submit a list on a daily basis of the TNVS temporarily operating under them.
The agency added Grab and U-Hop should have a separate database of the Grab TNVS they will be accommodating.
“This resolution shall take effect immediately,” the LTFRB said.
The LTFRB meted a one-month suspension on Uber, after it “openly defied” its July order for the TNC to desist from accepting more drivers for accreditation.
Earlier, Uber and Grab were ordered by the agency to pay a P5-million fine for committed violations, which includes the deployment of colorum vehicles to streets.
