LPA east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur develops into tropical depression

Signal No. 1 hoisted over several areas due to “Amang”

(Eagle News)—The low pressure area east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur has developed into a tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

In its 11 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said tropical depression “Amang” was located 580 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan as of 10 p.m., and is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Norte mainland and Siargao Islands between tomorrow afternoon and evening.

PAGASA said Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands and Camiguin.

It said Signal No. 1 may be raised over eastern Bohol and southern Leyte in the next bulletin, with moderate to heavy rains to prevail over Caraga, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Camiguin and Misamis Oriental beginning today.

PAGASA said on Sunday, Jan. 20, moderate to heavy rains may prevail over Caraga, northern Mindanao, easterm Visayas, central Visayas, Bicol, southern Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon.

On Monday, Jan. 21, PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains may prevail over Visayas, Bicol, southern Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon.
