(Eagle News) – Members of the media were shown the design of the robe or “toga” which the senators will wear in the expected impeachment trial of Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno where they will serve as judges.

Based on the design approved by Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, the toga will be black and the clothing material will be wool.

It will have no zipper, but will have strings and a Velcro.

Aside from preparing the toga or robes that they will wear, the senators are also studying and finalizing the rules of impeachment that would be used in the impeachment trial of Sereno.

During the 2012 impeachment trial of the late Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona, senator-judges wore maroon-colored robes.  (Meanne Corvera, Eagle News Service)
