Leyte Court orders Kerwin Espinosa’s transfer to NBI custody

MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — A regional trial court in Baybay, Leyte court on Tuesday, December 6 issued an order in an open court for the transfer of custody of alleged Eastern Visayas drug lord Kerwin Espinosa to the National Bureau of Investigation.

In the presence of the prosecutor and Kerwin’s lawyer, Atty. Leilani Villarino, Baybay, Leyte Regional Trial Court Branch 14 Judge Carlos Arguelles ordered the transfer of the young Espinosa from the custody of the Philippine National Police’s Anti-illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG) to the NBI

The court had directed the PNP-AIDG to transfer Espinosa’s custody within ten (10) days upon receipt of the notice. The police should also inform the court of its compliance within five days.

Espinosa has been under the protective care of the PNP-AIDG since his arrest in Abu Dhabi last October.

In his written order to the NBI director, Judge Arguelles said, “I hereby commit to you the live body of Rolan Espinosa aka Kerwin Espinosa to be kept in custody as detention prisoner subject to the order of this court.”
