Former senator Pangilinan takes oath as Food Security Adviser

Former senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has officially joined President Aquino’s cabinet as Presidential Assistant for Food Security and Agricultural Modernization.

President Aquino administered the oath of office to Pangilinan in Malacanang Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

Secretary Pangilinan is tasked to handle all concerns related to food and agriculture.

He is expected to head the following former agencies of the Department of Agriculture:    National Food Authority (NFA),   National Irrigation Authority (NIA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), and Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA).

These agencies were earlier transferred to the Office of the President.
