UPDATED: Miss PHL Catriona Gray crowned Miss Universe 2018

(Eagle News)—–Miss Philippines Catriona Gray  ended her Miss Universe campaign with the much-coveted crown, besting over 90 other contestants competing in the pageant being held in Thailand.

Named second runner-up was Venezuela.

South Africa placed first runner-up.

Gray wowed judges and the audience with her answer when asked what lessons she learnt in her life and how she could translate them as Miss Universe.

“I work a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila and the life there is very poor, sad and I’ve always taught myself to look for the beauty in it, to look in the beauty of the children and be grateful.”

“I would bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson,” she said.

Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters relinquished her crown to Gray, who is the fourth Filipina to be named Miss Universe after Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margarita Moran in 1973.
