The Golden State Warriors accomplished a rare NBA Finals sweep with a dominant 108-85 Game 4 road win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
They repeat as NBA champions in 2018 and lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the 3rd time in 4 years.
After barely surviving the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors were simply too much to handle against an overmatched Cleveland Cavaliers squad led by 4-time MVP Lebron James.
The Warriors won 3 of the 4 games by double-digits, including a Game 1 overtime victory that will haunt Cleveland after the now infamous gaffe of Cavs forward JR Smith.
This is the first NBA Finals sweep since 2007 when Tim Duncan led the San Antonio Spurs to the title against the then up and coming Cleveland Cavaliers squad led by a younger James.
That was his first Finals appearance.
The Warriors also became just the 7th NBA franchise to capture back-to-back NBA championships, joining the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat.
Warriors forward Kevin Durant recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to capture the 2018 Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP for the second year running.
Steph Curry was the top-scorer for Golden State in Game 4 with 37 points.
James led the Cleveland Cavaliers with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and a block.
