Japan donates 27 new heavy equipment for Marawi rehabilitation

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Japanese government donated 27 new heavy equipment for the rehabilitation of Marawi City.

The turn-over ceremony was attended by Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, representing President Rodrigo Duterte, as well as Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, who is the vice-chair of “Task Force Marawi”.

The donated equipment consisted of seven hydraulic excavators, three bulldozers, three wheel loaders, two motor graders, and 12 dump trucks.

Aside from this, the Japanese government has provided a grant for the United Nations Habitat Program.

The Japanese government also extended financial assistance for the widening of 24.61 kilometers Plaridel By-Pass Road in Bulacan.

Japan said it is strongly committed to help rebuild the greater Marawi area and demonstrate the strong bond between the two countries.
