LONDON, United Kingdom (AFP) — Prime Minister Theresa May said there could be “no turning back” and called for national unity on Wednesday after notifying the European Union of Britain’s intention to end its 44-year membership of the bloc.

“This is a historic moment from which there can be no turning back,” she told parliament, adding: “Now is the time for us to come together,” she added.
