Rizal Day is a Philippine national holiday commemorating the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal, a patriot, martyr, and our Philippine National Hero.
December 30 of every year marks the death anniversary of Dr. Rizal. During this month different activities were done in recognition to his martyrdom.
In December 1898, two years after the death of Dr. Jose Rizal, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo issued a decree declaring December 30 as “Rizal Day” and a “national day of mourning”.
