If a Legilimens looked inside my head during “Fantastic Beasts…”

QUEZON City, Philippines (November 23) – Finally, the long awaited movie of the year has arrived. Ever since teasers were released back in 2015, every Potterite, Potterhead and whatever you call die-hard Harry Potter fans have been waiting at the edge of their seats for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.

As every Potter fan will know, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is one of the textbooks used by students of Hogwarts. But author J.K. Rowling has wonderful plans for this humble trivia.

In 2001, Rowling released a supposed edition of the textbook in order to raise funds for UK-based charity Comic Relief. As one can expect from a textbook entitled “Fantastic Beasts…”, the book is like a directory of magical creatures, written with an introduction from its fictional author, Newt Scamander.

In September 2013, Rowling announced her debut as a screenwriter and the spin-off film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is born.

The film made its world premiere in New York on November 10, 2016 and was released worldwide on November 18. As of press time, it grossed $219 million.

As a courtesy to my fellow Potter fans, I will try my best not to spoil the movie for you. So, instead of the usual review, I’ll share what’s going on my head while watching “Fantastic Beasts…”

  • Man, those advertisements are looonnnggg… Show me the trailers!
  • Speaking of advertisements, why are cinemas showing them in the first place? I mean, we already paid for the tickets, is that not enough profit for you? Apparently not.
  • Also, friendly advise to those who will advertise in cinemas, please update your marketing materials, it’s 2016 for crying out loud!
  • Tears are threatening to roll of my eyes when I heard the opening score! Harry Potter fans can relate.
  • Newt Scamander’s full name is Newton Artemis Fido Scamander. I know this because I am Harry Potter geek.
  • The wizarding world in the USA is very different from the wizarding world in the UK. For example: no-maj?
  • So basically, this is the Harry Potter version of Pokemon Go.
  • Nifflers are cute.
  • I never thought that I missed hearing those spells so much!
  • Unconventional love story for the win!
  • That suitcase is beyond amazing!
  • Erumpents are cute.
  • Baby Groot!
  • Don’t trust goblins!
  • Demiguises are cool.
  • So is the Occamy.
  • Classic Rowling. The villain is not the one that you expect.
  • Oh hello, Mr. Jack Sparrow.
  • Thunderbird for the win!
  • Oh, so he is a Hufflepuff. Nice touch.
  • Love will always find a way.
  • Must get the book.

At the end of the day, all I want to say is that you must watch it!!!
