“Hitman’s Bodyguard” takes top spot at box office

(Reuters) — “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” starring Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek and Samuel L. Jackson hit gold at the North American box office, with $21.6 million in ticket sales over the weekend (August 18-20), according to boxofficemojo.com.

The second place spot went to the horror film “Annabel: Creation” which netted $15.5 million.

“Logan Lucky,” Steven Soderbergh’s film about siblings attempting to pull off a robbery at a NASCAR race took third place with $8 million in sales.

Christopher Nolan’s WWII film “Dunkirk” brought in $6.7 million for the fourth place spot.

Rounding out the top five at the box office was the animated feature “The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature.” Katherine Heigel, Will Arnett and Jackie Chan all voiced parts in the film which brought in $5 million over the weekend.
