RCBC: Guilty verdict on Deguito proves she is a “rogue employee” while RCBC is the “victim”

(Eagle News)—The guilty verdict meted out on Maia Deguito  for money laundering only proves that RCBC “is the victim in this situation” and that she is a “rogue employee.”

This is according to Thea Daep, RCBC spokesperson, who issued a brief statement after the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 149 sentenced Deguito to four to seven years in prison for each of the eight counts of money laundering she was convicted of in connection with the $81-million cyberheist on the Bangladeshi central bank three years ago.

She was also fined over $109 million camp.

Deguito’s camp has said she would appeal the decision.

The former RCBC manager is currently out on bail.
