Gordon cites alleged consignee of magnetic lifters found in Cavite in contempt

(Eagle News) — Senator Richard Gordon on Wednesday, Sept. 19, cited in contempt the alleged consignee of the four magnetic lifters believed to contain shabu estimated at worth P6.8 billion and that slipped into the country in August.

Gordon also ordered SMYD Trading’s Marina Signapan confined in the Senate after what he said were “several  attempts at compassion and understanding.”

“She already lied on her status as consignee and she cannot claim that she was just consignee. She appears to be lying and for me she is lying,” Gordon said.

According to Gordon, if Signapan “continues to lie after three days, we will bring them together with Mr. (Jimmy) Guban to the Pasay City Jail.”

Guban was the Customs intelligence officer who allegedly introduced Signapan to a certain Joel Maritana.

Signapan alleged it was Maritana who paid her P180,000 for handling fee, duties, and taxes.

The four magnetic lifters were found empty in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite in August.
