President Duterte tells Sison he can come home; lays down conditions for communists

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte said on Friday that Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Ma. Sison “can come home,” and will be given “freedom of movement.”

“I just had a talk before, pababa dito, (presidential peace adviser Jesus) Dureza and (chief government negotiator Silvestre) Bello called me. Sabi ko, you tell Sison, because he’s sick, very sick, he can come home. I’ll give him freedom of movement. I will not have him arrested. I’ll even pay for his hospitalization kung gusto niya,” Duterte said in a speech during the 29th Annual Convention of Prosecutors League of the Philippines in Pampanga.

He said, however, that there were several things that the communists should comply with.

The first, he said, is that they should stop the revolutionary tax.

Napapahiya ako e. If you continue, engkwentro talaga tayo dyan,” he said.

He said they should also release all prisoners, a demand Duterte said they would comply with “within the next two days.”

The communists should also “not claim any territory.”

“(There should also be) a guarantee of a ceasefire that’s more or less substantial, and the parameters really established,” Duterte added.

Kung wala yan, sabi ko ayoko. Giyera nalang tayo..Sabi ko sa kanila in my call we have been at it for 50 years. You want to fight another 50 years? Di mo man lang inisip ang Pilipino..You must be crazy,” he added.
