(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has invited Vice-President Leni Robredo to dinner after Robredo talked to him during the Philippine National Police Academy commencement exercises, assuring him that she does not want him to be removed from office.
Duterte replied that he believed her.
Speaking to reporters in Bukidnon, Duterte said: “Yes, ganito yan she mention on destab destab. Sabi niya wala ako niyan. Sabi ko Leni I believe you.”
The President also told Robredo that he is not involved in moves to impeach her either.
“Left and right kasi intriga ako wala ako kasali dyan sa impeachment, impeachment,” Duterte said.
The President said he has invited Robredo and her children to dinner with his family.
Malacanang also confirmed the dinner invitation extended by President Duterte during the PNPA graduation ceremony on Saturday in Cavite where the President and Robredo had been seated next to each other.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella in a statement said the invitation was extended by the President during their conversation there.
“The President and the Vice President were engaged in conversation during the commencement exercises of the (PNPA) yesterday (Friday). There, PRRD invited VP Leni and her children to dinner together with his family,” Abella said.
Abella however did not know the details of this dinner, or whether when this would take place.
