President Duterte promises hike in salaries of BFP personnel

Urges them to “remain loyal” to the country, not to politicians

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday promised to double the salaries of Bureau of Fire Protection personnel, as he urged them to remain loyal to the country.

“Unahin ko kayo (sa increase),” he told BFP personnel and officials attending the organization’s 26th anniversary celebration.

The President’s pronouncement was met with applause.

According to Duterte, apart from the fact that he wanted to “provide” the BFP personnel “everything they need(ed),” he wanted to build a “strong nation.”

He said he was “not cultivating loyalty” to him.

“The only thing I ask of you, remain loyal to the country. Huwag sa pulitiko,” he said.
