PNP now on metrowide ‘full alert status’ for SONA

(Eagle News) — Security for the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte is all set, a police official said during a press briefing on Tuesday, July 18.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde said that there are 6,300 police personnel to be deployed on the day of SONA as they expect 10,000-15,000 militants to hold protest rallies.

“Nagkasundo naman na pagbibigyan ang mga protesters sa same position kung saan sila last year, pinalapit pa natin ng around 15 to 20 meters sa South Gate ng Batasang Pambansa,” he said.

Albayalde noted that the Philippine National Police will not use a signal jammer but will implement a no-fly zone within a 6-kilometer radius of the Batasang Pambansa.
