Duterte tells AMLC to release info on his net worth, but Trillanes calls it bluff

(Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Duterte has given the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) the green light to give all information regarding his net worth, in the face of allegations made by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV that he was keeping P2.2 billion in bank accounts.

The President revealed this during his speech in Baguio City at a dinner Friday with the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) class of 1967 to which he was an honorary member. He said “there will never be a time that I would shame the class.”

“Just to make clear, it is a matter of principle also and honor, I said during the campaign that if any of my family or ako mismo would be involved in corruption in government, you can be sure you have my word I will resign immediately,” he said.

“Kaya gusto ko lang sabihin sa inyo because it’s politics again. It’s a rehash, of what they…it’s pure garbage,” he said.

“But you know I’m the president. I’ve ordered AMLC and everybody to give information sa ano ang.. what’s my worth in this, in terms of pesos in this planet. So hindi ko kayo hiyain,” he assured.

-Trillanes calls it “political bluff”

Trillanes, on the other hand, was not satisfied and called this as a “political bluff.”

He said that what the President should do is to sign a waiver of bank secrecy. He said this way everybody could see the transaction history of the President’s bank accounts.

Duterte has earlier denied this allegation, saying he would immediately resign if Trillanes can prove that he has even half a billion in his bank accounts.

He also called Trillanes a “tulisan” and a coward, saying it was the senator who was corrupt as it was publicly known in the Senate how he was profiting from illegal retainers.

He also said Trillanes had “no balls” as proven during and after the 2003 Oakwood mutiny which he headed wherein he failed to get support from other military officers and from the public.

“I would advise Trillanes to go to court and file a proper case against me. I advise him further to stop opening his mouth when he has nothing to say,” he said.
