Emotional PAGCOR Chair hits Robredo during ASEAN Gaming Summit; says VP maligned the country

(Eagle News) — The chief of the Philippine Association of Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), the country’s gaming regulator, slammed Vice President Leni Robredo in front of foreign investors at an Association of Southeast Asian Nations gaming summit, asking them to “not believe” statements coming from the controversial vice-president.

PAGCOR chief Andrea Domingo told the summit delegates that Robredo was trying to destroy the Philippines with her messages that distorted the real peace and order situation in the country.

She said Robredo was trying to discredit efforts of President Rodrigo Duterte to make the country peaceful and fully developed.

“Do not believe (Leni) Robredo.  She has maligned our country and our people.  and I feel very badly about this,” she said.

She urged the investors to ignore the “political noise” surrounding the government’s war on drugs, apparently referring to the vice president’s video message  to a side-event of the United Nations Commission on Narcotics Drugs, where she raised concerns over police abuse in the government’s war on illegal drugs.

“I am not going to comment on (Leni) Robredo’s level of competence or intelligence.  Intelligent people can make that judgment. I am not even going to make comment on what made her vice-president of this great country.  The decision on the electoral protest filed against her will tell us, I hope sooner than later,” Domingo said.

The PAGCOR chair said Robredo’s video speech sent to international community has two parts:

“The first part is the demolition job,” she said.  “Over 7,000 killed in summary executions!  Check with the national police,” she added.

Domingo even described Robredo as a “female creature” who badly wants to be President.

“I really view her as a female creature who wants to be President so bad and so fast, she would do anything, go there under any manner or circumstance, except go through the legal electoral process that President Duterte went through,” the PAGCOR chief said.

“Please, I’m sorry that I have to tell you this. She maligned my country, she maligned my Filipino people, she maligned my policemen, she maligned my president in an international forum, the United Nations Commission on Narcotic (Drugs)” she added.

Domingo added,  “I am just an ordinary government worker. I only have this international forum to share my sentiments with. So please thank you for bearing with me on this.”

During her keynote speech, Domingo also asked delegates if they had seen bodies and witnessed tortures.

Her speech ended with what could be a first in any Asian Gaming Conference: A statement of support to the Philippine government, and a calm yet strong criticism against Philippine Vice President Robredo.
