DILG defends plan to post “drug-free” stickers on houses with no drug involvement, says it’s a nonviolent approach

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — After the suspension of the illegal drug campaign of the Philippine National Police, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) planned to post “drug-free stickers” on households who have no drug-dependent members.

“Saving our country from being a narco-state is a shared responsibility. The government cannot do it alone,” Sueno said.

Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael Sueno said on Tuesday, February 23 that this is to continue the campaign against narcotics in a nonviolent approach.

“The stickers will urge families as well as their neighbors to keep their neighborhood drug-resistant. It’s a non-violent and encouraging approach, in fact a positive reinforcement,” Sueno said

The Peace and Order Council from the regional to the barangay level will determine the houses with no drug involvement.

The “drug-free” stickers were first already implemented in Bohol.
