(Eagle News) — Senator Leila de Lima has just completed booking procedures inside the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City, following her arrest at 8 a.m. Friday at the Senate for drug-related charges.

Under the normal booking procedures, it could take a few hours to complete. In De Lima’s case, the whole process took about two hours.  As of posting time (10:30 a.m.), she has just left Camp Crame and is being brought to the Muntinlupa regional trial court branch 204 which issued the warrant for her arrest.

There, it is expected that she would meet and be reunited with former driver-bodyguard Ronnie Dayan who was arrested Thursday night in Pangasinan on the basis of an arrest warrant, also issued by Judge Juanita Guerrero.

The typical steps in the booking process include the following:

Step 1: Recording the suspect’s name and the crime the suspect was arrested for

Step 2: Taking a mug shot

Step 3: Taking the suspect’s personal property into custody

Step 4: Taking fingerprints

Step 5: Conducting a body search

Step 6: Checking for warrants

Step 7: Health screening

Step 8: Eliciting information as to incarceration conditions

De Lima was arrested Friday morning, 8 a.m., at the Senate in connection to the illegal drug trading case filed with branch 204 of the Muntinlupa regional trial court.
