(Eagle News) — While Senator Leile de Lima might be arrested today anytime this Friday morning, her co-accused in the drug-related cases, former lover and bodyguard Ronnie Dayan, was already arrested by the police in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan on Thursday night (February 23).

This was according to Urbiztondo police’s Chief Inspector Joshua Maximo who claimed Dayan did not resist arrest and was even expecting it when the police came to his house to get him at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The arrest was made because of the arrest warrant issued by Judge Juanita Guerrero of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court branch 204 who also issued an arrest warrant for the lady senator Thursday afternoon.

Dayan will be brought to Metro Manila today, Friday, particularly to the Muntinlupa RTC branch which issued the warrant for his arrest.

A hearing is set today at the Muntinlupa court salas where the various drug-related cases had been raffled off last week.

Also facing arrest is another co-accused of De Lima, former National Bureau of Investigation deputy director and former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Rafael Ragos. A warrant for his arrest has also been issued by the same Muntinlupa City court branch.

Ragos earlier testified against the former justice secretary, saying he brought sums of money to her house in Paranaque City.

Ragos and Dayan were among those co-accused in the drug charges filed by the DOJ against De Lima. The others are Franklin Bucayu, former BuCor director, Jose Adrian Dera. alias Jad De Vera, a nephew and close-in security detail of De Lima, former bodyguard Joenel Sanchez, Jaybee Sebastian, and alleged bagman of Bucayu, Col. Wilfredo Elli.

All were charged with violation of Section 5, in relation to Section 3(jj), Section 26(b) and Section 28 of Republic Act No. 9165, for the alleged proliferation of illegal drugs at the NBP during De Lima’s term as justice secretary.
