(Eagle News)– The alleged father of the Maute brothers was arrested Tuesday (June 6) in Davao City, police said.

Davao Police chief Senior Supt. Alexander Tagum said Cayamora Maute was arrested at a checkpoint in Sirawan, Toril District.

Maute is allegedly the father of Abdullah and Omarkhayam, who are leaders of the local terrorist group named after their surnames.

Government troops are currently fighting members of the Maute group in Marawi City.

The elder Maute is also among the more than 100 earlier ordered arrested by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

The police said Cayamora was on his way to a hospital to seek medical attention for his hypertension when he was arrested at a checkpoint.

Also arrested were his wife, Farhana; daughter-in-law; and another relative.
