Aguirre names ex-senator, solon who offered P100-M bribe to NBP inmates

(Eagle News)  — Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Friday named those who were behind the alleged P100-M offer to high-profile inmates so they would take back their statement against Senator Leila De Lima.

Aguirre named former Senator Jamby Madrigal and Laguna Rep. Marlyn “Len” Alonte-Naguiat as the people who offered the bribe to the New Bilibid Prison inmates who had earlier pinned De Lima on the illegal drug trade at the national penitentiary.

“Inalok po nila yung walong iyan (na nag-witness against De Lima) for P100 million basta gawin nila yung pagbawi, yung retraction ng mga salaysay nila laban kay De Lima before bukas February 25 which is the EDSA anniversary,” Aguirre said.

According to the justice secretary, Madrigal asked Lalaine Madrigal Martinez to help Alonte to get in touch with the NBP inmates.

Martinez is the cousin of Madrigal and the wife of kidnapper Noel Martinez who implicated De Lima in the illegal drug trafficking inside the NBP.

He also said that Martinez told him that  Madrigal had offered part of the P100-million to the said inmates, and Alonte spoke to the inmates through speaker phone.

“Ito pong isang asawa si Lalaine Madrigal Martinez ‘yan po ay tumatawag po sa ‘kin ‘yung mga pangangailangan at complaints kaya hindi po katakataka na ipagbigay po ito sa ‘kin. Asawa ito ni Noel Martinez, isa doon sa nakakulong sa AFP,” Aguirre said.

Aguirre also revealed that if there will be a People Power revolution they were told they would be freed from jail.

“Pag nagkaroon sila ng People Power revolution ay palalayain sila, lahat ng mga high profile inmates. Yan ang pangako nila,” Aguirre said.
